John 3:1-8 John 4:23-24 Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 1:3 John 3:3 - Greek Word Study: Born: gennao: meaning to procreate or to Regenerate, from genos; to be begotten or be born; (metaph.) Born of God or Of the Spirit, in a spiritual sense.(Only in Johannine writings) to have received from God a new spiritual life and to be born again from above. Again: anothem: From above; from the first, anew; Of time, meaning from the first, from the beginning (Lk. 1:13, Ac 26:5, Gal. 4:9). Also, again, another time, as in Jn.3:3, 7, translated “be born again”. This could also be translated “to be born from above”; doubtless equal to being “born of God” in Jn. 1:13. In Jn. 3:4, Nicodemus clearly takes it as (syn.) ‘deutron’ “a second time”. See: eido: properly, to see (Lit. or Fig.); by implication (in the perf. only) to know: - be aware, behold, have knowledge, look on, perceive 2 Corinthians 5:17 Isaiah 44:3 Ezekiel 36:25-27; Luke 24:27-32 1 Cor. 15:50; Jn. 6:63 Spirit: pneuma: a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or breeze (by anal. Or fig.) a spirit i.e. (human, superhuman, Divine; God, Christ’s Spirit, Holy Spirit – spoken of as imparting new spiritual life to those who believe in the Gospel in Jn. 3:5, 6, 8) (Hb: ‘ruwach’) Ezekiel 37:1-14, 1 Peter 1:1-5 II. “Believe And Live!” John 3:9-15 Daniel 7:13-14 Numbers 21:4-9 1 John 5:6-12, John 12:32 Isaiah 52:13- 53:1 John 3:16-18 Ephesians 5:25-27, 1 John 5:6-12; 2 Corinthians 5:21 Acts 4:12 The OT - Jesus Concealed; the Gospels - Jesus Revealed; The Epistles - Jesus Explained; Revelation - Jesus Expected. |
